Our Story
Northaven was established in 1969 by local community members and families to create employment, training, and social opportunities for people living with disabilities within the Inverell and surrounding areas.
Northaven started by running a community garden. Growing flowers and plants for the community and selling some of them. Later, Northaven opened the recycling plant and was very successful. Employing several people with disability and several supervisors. This team operated the recycling plant for 20+ years.
Years after the establishment of the recycling plant, Northaven branched out and started offering more services for its participants; such as, respite, community access, supported individual living and more.
Recently Northaven has opened up a floristry and cafe business for further opportunities for people living with disability.
Northaven currently operates a small facility that delivers various services. These services include; security shredding, making and selling survey pegs, making and selling kindling and metal/wood work production.
